The County’s contractor Smith Contracting is scheduled to perform a traffic shift on the eastbound lane of RM 2243. This work will begin on Tuesday, May 24, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and is scheduled to be complete by Friday, June 10. The work will take place Monday through Friday during these 3 weeks. The traffic shift will put the eastbound traffic into the center turn lane on RM 2243. Expect delays. The dates are subject to change depending on the weather. This traffic shift is necessary for Smith Contracting to clear the ROW, prepare subgrade along the existing eastbound travel lane, and place the hot mix for the proposed driveway. Every precaution will be taken to ensure the safety of the traveling public and the workers during this operation.  Electronic messages board will be set to provide advance notification to the public for the traffic shift. Attached is a detail of the traffic shift.

The new railroad crossing at Tradesman Park just south of US 79 is now open, and the old railroad crossing at CR 123 is closed. Williamson County and Union Pacific Railroad were partners in the project to install the railroad crossing and roadway from US 79 to the railroad crossing. Cash Construction was the contractor. CR 123 is now closed from US 79 to Axis Deer. Residents in the area now will take North Star Ranch Blvd. (Tradesman Park) to Benelli Drive (Axis Deer). To view a map, click here.
